The latest kernel is not installed when upgrading the system
Issue
After upgrading the system to the latest minorrelease using the command below, the latest kernel was not installed.
# yum update redhat-release
Before:
# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.6 (Maipo)
# rpm -q kernel
kernel-3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64
After:
# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.9 (Maipo)
# rpm -q kernel
kernel-3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
