Emulex CNA FCoE card stuck in "Bypassed" state after READ_FCF_RECORD errors logged

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The FC ports on the server won't initialize properly and log into fiberchannel.
  • New server with emulex fcoe chips. Second of two ports consistenly comes up in "bypassed" state:

    # cat /sys/class/fc_host/host2/port_state
    Bypassed

  • Seeing "READ_FCF_RECORD Indicates empty FCF table" in messages post Link Up event:

    lpfc 0000:04:00.3: 1:1303 Link Up Event x1 received Data: x1 x0 x40 x0 x0 x0 0
lpfc 0000:04:00.3: 1:2726 READ_FCF_RECORD Indicates empty FCF table.
lpfc 0000:04:00.3: 1:2765 Mailbox command READ_FCF_RECORD failed to retrieve a FCF record.

  • Need to know why, and how to un-bypass.
