Starting vsftpd gives a "500 OOPS: could not bind listening IPv4 socket" error
Issue
When attempting to start the vsftpd FTP daemon an "500 OOPS: could not bind listening IPv4 socket" error is encountered
[root@hostname ~]# service vsftpd stop
Shutting down vsftpd: [ OK ]
[root@hostname ~]# service vsftpd start
Starting vsftpd for vsftpd: 500 OOPS: could not bind listening IPv4 socket
[ OK ]
