Couldn't find device errors after forcibly removing volume group from RHEL system

Issue

  • After forcibly removing a volume group, the associated physical volumes remain in the Logical Volume Manager (LVM) configuration and complicate additional LVM activities. 

  • Many LVM commands fail with "Couldn't find device with uuid ..." or "Couldn't find all physical volumes for volume group..."
