Yum Repository Configuration Helper

Updated -

Yum is the primary tool to retrieve, install, delete, query, and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux RPM software packages. When a Red Hat Enterprise Linux machine is connected to the Internet, Yum can pull RPM packages from official Red Hat software repositories. If some machines are not connected to the Internet, use a local repository in your intranet managed by Red Hat Satellite or other products. The Yum Repository Configuration Helper offers an additional option.

The Yum Repository Configuration Helper sets up a simple Yum repository for the local machine or a small number of other machines to use. If a large number of machines using Red Hat Enterprise Linux are in use, or if additional flexibility or advanced features are required, use Red Hat Satellite.

Based on your preferences, the Yum Repository Configuration Helper generates a script used to set up a local Yum repository and configure the machine to use it, or a script to set up a HTTP/HTTPS or FTP-based Yum repository and repository configuration (.repo) files, which are used to configure other machines to access the new Yum repository.
