Red Hat Customer Portal: Email Verification Required for Both New and Existing Users

Updated -

Scope

  • New and existing Red Hat Customer Portal accounts.

Severity

  • Informational.

Description

  • Red Hat has added a feature that requires Red Hat Customer Portal users to verify their email. After this change, the first login attempt by new and existing users who have not verified their email will be directed to an email verification page. They will not be able access the Red Hat Customer Portal until they verify their email. After their email has been verified, subsequent logins will be directed to the Red Hat Customer Portal.

FAQ

1. What can I do if the email that was registered to an account is no longer accessible?

If you’re able to login to your account and the email address that is currently associated with your login ID has been verified, you will be able to change your email address through https://sso.redhat.com/auth/realms/redhat-external/account/#/personal-info

If the email address hasn’t been verified yet, you would need to verify it first.

If you’re not able to verify the email address and/or you're not able to log into the account, please reach out to one of your account’s Org Admins for help. If you’re the only person on your account, please contact our Customer Service.

When you login you will be directed to an email verification page. There is a link on that page to update your email address for the account you signed in with.

2. I did not receive an email verification email.

There is a link to resend verification email when you login and are directed to the email verification page. If you’re still not able to receive the verification email, it can be due to your email infrastructure not allowing incoming emails from no-reply@redhat.com. Please ask your email administrators if they can allow emails from this address.
It can also be that you’re not able to access incoming email for the email address associated with the user. For requesting help with the change of email address, reach out to one of your account’s Org Admins for help. If you’re the only user on your account, please contact our Customer Service.

3. I seem to be unable to verify my email address, it says “I’m sorry, either you have already confirmed your email address using this link or this is an old email confirmation link. Please check your email and use the newest link to confirm your email address. If you need additional assistance, please contact customer service at http://www.redhat.com/about/contact/dir/#custservice.”

This happens typically when you’re using Outlook with the Safe Links feature, which visits these links in the background, and therefore voids their future use.
To resolve this issue, please clean cookies and cache from your browser or simply use a private/incognito window of your browser and the message about email verification should not be there anymore for your account.
