Announcing the release of Red Hat AMQ Streams 2.5

We're pleased to announce the release of Red Hat AMQ Streams 2.5. AMQ Streams simplifies the process of running Apache Kafka on OpenShift and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

What's new in AMQ Streams 2.5

AMQ Streams 2.5 uses Kafka 3.5.0.
AMQ Streams 2.5 on OpenShift is based on Strimzi 0.36.x.
AMQ Streams 2.5 on OpenShift is supported on OpenShift Container Platform 4.10 to 4.14.

AMQ Streams 2.5 on OpenShift includes the following developer and technology previews to try:

• Try configuring node pools with the KafkaNodePools feature gate
• Try the Unidirectional Topic Operator with the UnidirectionalTopicOperator feature gate
• Try using StrimziPodSet resources to manage Kafka Connect and Kafka MirrorMaker 2 pods with the StableConnectIdentities feature gate
• Try Kafka KRaft mode with the UseKRaft feature gate

Kafka KRaft mode is also available as a technology preview for AMQ Streams 2.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Deprecated features

• StrimziPodSet resources now create and manage pods instead of StatefulSet resources.
• Support for type: jaeger tracing is deprecated.
