Important product announcement concerning Red Hat® Ceph® Storage, Red Hat® OpenStack® Platform, Red Hat® OpenShift® Data Foundation, Red Hat® OpenShift® Platform Plus, and Red Hat® Gluster® Storage customers

Updated -

Today, IBM announced that the Red Hat and IBM Storage businesses are coming together as a single group within IBM. Moving forward, this group at IBM will be responsible for the development and delivery of Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF), Red Hat Ceph Storage (RHCS), Red Hat Gluster Storage (RHGS) as well as Red Hat ODF as a Cloud Service. See below for how this announcement will impact your organization:

Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation and Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus (OPP)
The customer experience for your use of Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) with OpenShift offerings will not change as a result of this transfer. Your existing Red Hat contract will give you access to the same ODF software as you have today, and customer support will still be directly with Red Hat. Additionally, we encourage you to upgrade your existing OpenShift Container Platform SKUs to Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus, which will continue to include ODF Essentials software and other key value-add capabilities to help you build, deploy, run, manage, automate, and safeguard intelligent applications at scale.

Red Hat Ceph Storage usage with Red Hat OpenStack Platform or Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
The customer experience for your products will not change as a result of this transfer. Existing customers using Red Hat Ceph Storage (RHCS) for Red Hat OpenStack Platform (RHOSP) and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) will be able to maintain and grow their RHCS footprints as needed, with no change in their Red Hat relationship. Red Hat and its partners will continue to sell, renew, and support Red Hat Ceph Storage for use with RHOSP and RHOCP through existing Red Hat SKUs and subscriptions. For those RHCS deployments not associated with RHOCP nor RHOSP, the customer experience will remain the same until RHCS contract renewal, at which point, you will be offered an IBM-based Ceph offering.

Red Hat Gluster Storage
The customer experience for your product will not change as a result of this transfer. Your existing Red Hat contract will give you access to the same software as you have today, and customer support and renewal will be directly with Red Hat. Red Hat Gluster Storage is still in the retirement phase of its lifecycle with the same formal end of support life date of December 31, 2024.

Additional information about the transfer can be found in this announcement and FAQ document. Your Red Hat account team or Red Hat partner is also available for guidance.
