Deprecation notice for Fuse on Karaf and EAP runtimes

On July 1, 2022 Fuse 7 moved into maintenance support. This maintenance support will last until June 30, 2024. Thereafter Fuse 7 moves out of support, with the exception of additional two more years of Extended Lifetime Support (ELS) that requires an extra ELS subscription. ELS support for Fuse 7 is available from July 1, 2024 until June 30, 2026. See the Red Hat Application Services Product Update and Support Policy for further information.

A product in maintenance support does typically not see any new features or enhancements being added in subsequent releases. The focus is on fixing important and critical Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) as well as providing critical bug fixes.

There are no plans for a Fuse 8 release, however several Camel 3 support offerings are already available. Customers that want support for Camel 3 have multiple choices via these new product offerings
- Camel Extensions for Quarkus
- Camel K
- Camel for Spring Boot (to be released in summer 2022)

All of these products are offered as part of Red Hat Application Foundations and Red Hat will continue to innovate on these products.

As a result, support for the Karaf OSGi runtime as well as for JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) will stop when Fuse 7 moves out of support on June 30, 2024. Camel will no longer be supported on Karaf OSGi or JBoss EAP when Fuse 7 moves out of support.
The new product offerings listed above target modern runtimes and technologies such as Quarkus and Spring Boot.

Customers that currently run Fuse / Camel on Karaf OSGi or JBoss EAP are requested to plan a migration to one of the newer products listed above.

Red Hat is working on providing migration instructions from Fuse 7 to the new products shown above. Migration guides will be made available shortly under the respective product documentation.
