Download version 1.6 of Red Hat AMQ Streams, now available

Version 1.6 of Red Hat AMQ Streams is available for download and installation.

The features added in this release of AMQ Streams on OpenShift include:

  • AMQ Streams now supports Apache Kafka version 2.6.0.

  • The JRE version in the Streams container images changes from OpenJDK 8 to OpenJDK 11.

  • Cluster Operator logging is configured using a ConfigMap, which is automatically created when the Cluster Operator is deployed.

  • Integrate an Open Policy Agent (OPA) with Streams to act as a policy-based authorization mechanism for permitting client operations on Kafka brokers.

  • Add metrics configuration to Kafka Bridge and Cruise Control.

Try these Technology Preview features:

  • Five new performance tuning options are added for cluster rebalancing with Cruise Control:

    • Maximum concurrent partition movements per broker
    • Maximum concurrent intra-broker partition movements
    • Maximum concurrent leader movements
    • Bandwidth in bytes-per-second to assign to partition reassignment
    • Replica movement strategy
  • Additional enhancements to Cruise Control include:

    • Exclude one or more topics from an optimization proposal
    • Rebalance a Kafka cluster based on CPU capacity
