Announcing Beta Release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9

Today we're pleased to announce availability of the beta release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9, which has the following key points:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux life cycle
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9 will be the last RHEL 7 minor release and marks the start of Maintenance Phase 2. The beta provides an opportunity to evaluate the included stability and reliability fixes. Per the published RHEL life cycle, RHEL 7 will remain in Maintenance Phase 2 until retirement in 2024. This gives customers an opportunity to plan their upgrade strategy.

Upgrading to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
When Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9 reaches general availability, there will be an upgrade path from 7.9 to 8.2 using in-place upgrade tooling, which streamlines and simplifies the migration.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9 beta availability
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9 beta is available today in the Red Hat Customer Portal for all customers with active Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions.
