Red Hat Customer Portal: What's New on September 17, 2013

Updated -

We're pleased to announce the following enhancements to our Customer Portal included with our update published on September 17, 2013. These features, along with numerous bug fixes and minor enhancements, are now available to all users.

New Product Page: OpenShift by Red Hat

We've been hard at work adding and improving upon the product pages in the Customer Portal. We are excited to showcase the new OpenShift product page, which you can find at https://access.redhat.com/site/products/Cloud/OpenShift/ or under the Products tab in the main navigation menu.

User Profile Avatars

As part of our ongoing efforts to make the Customer Portal more social, we've given you the ability to have an avatar associated with your profile. Just log into the portal and look for an "avatar" tab when visiting your profile. You'll see that avatar next to your portal comments. Be social and upload your avatar today!

User-Friendly Timestamps

Instead of using system times, the Customer Portal now displays localized dates and timestamps on Knowledgebase content (e.g., videos, Solutions, Articles, and even this Announcement!).

Portal Content Now Searchable by Titles

Looking for a document with a particular title? We've added a checkbox just below the main search area to restrict results to titles only. Try it yourself by selecting "Titles only."

Changes to Comment Editing and Styling

You can now edit your comments, which will flag the comment as "Edited," and the styling of comment reply and edit functions has been improved.

Improved Knowledgebase Performance

The Customer Platform team continued to improve site performance with this release, specifically by reducing database queries that can slow down page load times. By employing improved caching, we hope to see up to a 25% improvement in how long it takes to load a typical page in the Knowledgebase.

New Portal Status Area

The Red Hat Status Portal is now live! This new portal gives subscribers one central location to view all service status information on a 24x7 basis. It also provides the current status of our core services, along with updates about current service outages and visibility to scheduled maintenance events. This portal is compatible with mobile devices.
