Red Hat Customer Portal: New Features Available on August 7, 2013

Updated -

We're pleased to announce the following user-experience enhancements included with our update published on August 7, 2013. These features, along with numerous bug fixes and minor enhancements, are now available to all users.

A "More Like This" Block on Solutions

Solutions now have a "More like this" content block on the right side of the page that, when applicable, provides links to other Solutions similar to the Solution being viewed. These links are generated from our recommendations engine and should help you find additional content related to the information you are searching for.

A New "Discussions" Community Area

To better serve our subscribers and fellow Red Hatters, we have launched a new Discussions feature to be the new home for our user community. There are numerous benefits and advantages to these new Discussions, such as full visibility prior to user login, search-engine indexing, and better integration with portal search and Knowledge. We'll work quickly to transition our existing Red Hat Groups users over to this new area and archive our Red Hat Groups community posts (although our strategic private group activities will remain active in the groups platform). You can find out more about this new discussions feature at here. The link to this new area is https://access.redhat.com/site/discussions, and for now, this link can be found in the Knowledge menu on the Customer Portal homepage.

Improved Portal Search/Browse Functionality

Over the last few months, we've had a "beta" search/browse capability in the Customer Portal for Solutions. This capability has been formally launched and extended across most content types. You will now be able to more effectively search across products, categories, and tags, which are also "clickable" for further filtering. Finding related content in the Customer Portal has never been easier!

New User Profiles

You now have a profile page where you can review your personal information, see your reputation points and badges, and manage your email notifications for Customer Portal content all in one place! The "Profile" link (visible only when logged in) is located under your name at the top right of most portal pages.

User Reputation Points and Badges

All Customer Portal users who participate in our new Discussions will have the ability to earn reputation points and level badges. In fact, we're migrating the points that you have earned through your previous Red Hat Groups interactions and applying them to Discussions moving forward. In our next release, we hope to extend this reputation model across all of our Knowledge interactions, such as commenting and voting activities.
