EAP RPM releases for RHEL 6.x customers to end with future EAP versions

Updated -

With Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 6 in the Maintenance Life Cycle phases, the Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) product is announcing that the RPM deliverables of EAP 7.x will be deprecated and stopped according to the following schedule:

EAP Version EAP Version GA RPM packages for RHEL 6.x
Current (EAP 7.2) Jan 2019 Available and supported with EAP entitlement
Next minor release (EAP 7.3) Mar 2020 Available and supported but deprecated. No further releases past the next EAP minor release and associated patch releases
Second minor release after EAP 7.2 TBD Not Available

By the time Red Hat has released two more minor versions past EAP 7.2, it is expected that RHEL 6.x will be past it’s Maintenance Support 2 Phase and at that point only customers with Extended Life Phase subscriptions will be entitled to RHEL support.

Customers with RHEL Extended Life Phase subscriptions who continue to use EAP must be aware that future EAP versions and updates will ONLY be provided in ZIP and containerized releases, and NOT as RPMs in the subscribed repositories. This may require a change in the customer’s upgrade workflow.

Note: this announcement does not impact the ZIP or containerized versions of the EAP releases going forward, only the RPM (package) releases for RHEL.
