Samba documentation updates for Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Updated -

A number of updates have been made to the Samba documentation in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 System Administrator’s Guide. These updates include:

  • Configuring Samba as a member in an Active Directory domain
  • Configuring Samba as a standalone server
  • Running Samba as a file and print server
  • Frequently used Samba command-line utilities, including examples

In addition, procedures have been added to help customers set up these features. All examples work with firewalld and SELinux enabled.

One topic in particular is worth highlighting: ID mapping in Samba. Incorrect mapping causes Samba to fail or not work as expected. The new documentation on ID mapping includes detailed information and procedures.
